Dr. Randy Wells knows dolphins. He is an internationally-recognized researcher and his program, the Chicago Zoological Society Sarasota Bay Dolphin Program, is the world's longest-running wild dolphin research program.

Dear BrookfieldZoo,
I`m 8 and I`m doing a animal report about dolphins for school. Can you tell me how they give birth? Is it the same as when people have babies?
Thanks,
A third grader in Chicago
Dolphins give birth underwater. This is a lot easier to see in a zoo setting than from a boat in the ocean. Brookfield Zoo posted a nice page about their last dolphin birth at the Seven Seas exhibits---they even posted a "home video" of the birth. Check it out at http://www.BrookfieldZoo.org/zoolink.aspx?Dolphin_Birth_2005. The video is linked at the bottom of the page.
